How to make cheap and pretty planters out of baskets

I encountered some $0.99 baskets at a local thrift store and decided they can make great planters.planter_1.jpg

First, I selected an appropriate liner (I used small grow bags I had on hand, but it could have been any peas of cloth or a plastic container of the right shape (just remember about drainage holes!). I will use these outdoors, but for indoor use, I would have included a saucer or something like it to prevent water from dripping.

That’s pretty much it! I filled the planter with potting mix…

And planted some marigolds.

Here is the second planter I made, now being a home to book choy and a blue aster.

Hope you find this helpful!
